Cabinet Office and Department of Health and Social Care consultation Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s

14 October 2019

The Cabinet Office and Department of Health and Social Care consultation Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s sets out the government’s proposals to tackle the causes of preventable ill health in England. In our response, we explore the role that financial difficulty plays as a key cause and aggravator of mental health problems, and how this can be addressed. Our recommendations include changes to Statutory Sick Pay, to help people with mental health problems to stay in work – and support those who are too unwell to do so – and the introduction of a Mental Health Impact Assessment on all new policy.
