Ofgem Consultation: Proposals to improve outcomes for consumers who experience self-disconnection and self-rationing

The Ofgem consultation on improving outcomes for consumers who experience self-disconnection and self-rationing sets out a number of proposals aimed at improving support for people who struggle to afford, access or manage an energy supply.

In our response, we explain some of the reasons why people experiencing mental health problems in particular might self-disconnect or self-ration, and the subsequent impact this has on their wellbeing. We also look at how Ofgem’s proposals could benefit consumers with mental health problems who struggle to afford or access an energy supply, including the proposed requirement for suppliers to identify customers who have self-disconnected or who self-ration.
