3 June 2024

The pandemic and rising costs of living have devastated many household’s financial and mental wellbeing. The next government’s efforts to protect the country and restore hope for the future must start with those who have been hardest hit.

Here we set out five low-cost, impactful ways the next government can take to boost financial inclusion and protect the mental health of those struggling through these challenging economic times.

We want the next government to commit to:

  1. Ensure everyone using mental health services is offered help and advice with their money
  2. Protecting people from the devastation caused by aggressive debt collection
  3. Removing barriers to work for people with mental health problems
  4. Protecting disability benefits for people with mental health problems
  5. Making financial services fair for people with mental health problems
