Minimum standards for mental health

Mental health problems can have wide-ranging effects on our cognitive and psychological abilities, which can make choosing, using and paying for essential services such as energy and broadband much harder.

In 2018, in recognition of the additional challenges people with mental health problems face in essential services markets, the government announced plans to introduce new minimum standards for mental health across these sectors. In this policy note, we draw on feedback from our 5,000 strong Research Community of people with experience of mental health problems to explore how these standards should be designed and implemented.
