The Social Security Advisory Committee’s Universal Credit managed migration consultation

This consultation response sets out the evidence from our research and policy work on how the managed migration system should be improved to meet the needs of people experiencing mental health problems. Our research suggests that the current managed migration proposals, to move claimants from legacy benefits to Universal Credit, do not appropriately take account of the additional needs of people with mental health problems, and may cause significant financial hardship and psychological harm as a result.
