Money and Mental Health’s submission to the Work and Pensions Committee’s inquiry into safeguarding vulnerable claimants

12 October 2023

Money and Mental Health outline how the DWP’s lack of process for identifying and responding to those with more complex needs and requiring assistance means they are failing to adequately safeguard the well-being of many people with mental health problems. We call for the DWP to have a statutory duty to safeguard the wellbeing of individuals in vulnerable situations, alongside wider reforms to improve how the DWP engages with individuals and its processes and support for making and managing a claim.
