Health is everyone’s business: Proposals to reduce ill health-related job loss

People experiencing poor mental health are almost twice as likely to report they left their last job for health reasons.  Earlier this year, the Department for Work and Pensions and Department for Health and Social Care issued a joint consultation exploring ways in which both the government and employers could help to reduce job loss due to ill-health.

In our response, we consider how the government’s proposals – including the right to request workplace modifications – could support people with mental health problems to stay in work, as well as making further recommendations, ncluding improvements to statutory sick pay.
